Product description
Ballantine’s 30 Year Old whisky is made from a carefully selected malt and grain whisky aged over thirty years and matured in European Oak casks. George Ballantine, the founder of Ballantine’s, came from a farming family in the Scottish borders. He established a grocers shop in Cowgate, Edinburgh, in 1827, eventually extending his business into wines and spirits. His venture into whisky mixing came at the same time as other famous whisky names were emerging, such as William Teacher and Arthur Bell. His son, also named George, was set up in Argyll Street, Glasgow, in 1872 as a whisky, wine, and cigar merchant with many export interests, especially the promotion of the Old Glenlivet and Talisker Fine Malt brands. Today Ballantine’s is one of the largest spirits brands in the world. The flavour profile of all the Ballantine’s bottlings is largely dependent on fingerprint malts from Miltonduff and Glenburgie. With a deep gold colour, a subtly sweet flavour on the nose, and a complex palate of honey and vanilla, Ballantine’s 30 Year Old is an exceptional, rare, and exclusive whisky. A sparkling gold colour, floral nose, and aromatic palate give it a delightful complexity. Ballantine’s 30 Year Old is best served and consumed when garnished with a simple ice cube to accentuate its natural depth and layers. Add a single large ice cube to a tumbler glass, pour over 50ml of Ballantine’s 30 Year Old, and serve alongside sweet and salty chocolate. Then take your time to sip and savour.
