Product description
L’Or de Jean Martell is an exceptional and complex cognac that expresses the myriad nuances of over 400 rare and precious Eaux-de-vie, some of which have aged for more than a century. It is distinguished by the encounter of Eaux-de-vie from Grande Champagne and the Borderies, the smallest and most exclusive terroir in the Cognac region, creating a blend of elegance, richness, and power. The jewel bottle, whose shape evokes a drop in which the cognac is enclosed and protected, is the work of master craftsmen from the prestigious Manufacture de Cristal de Sèvres. The history of Martell & Co dates back to 1715 when Jean Martell founded the company with the wish to produce only the highest quality in Cognac. With the legendary bottles Martell Cordon Bleu, the cuvée Martell Extra L’Or de Jean Martell, and the recent Création Grand Extra from 2007, the company strongly implanted itself in the luxury goods market and are famous for using large amounts of Eaux-de-vie from the Borderies terroir. On the nose, L’Or de Jean Martell presents fresh oriental notes of bergamot, orange peel, dark berries, gingerbread, clove, and cinnamon complemented by hints of sweet vanilla.

Product History | Product HistoryMartell, the oldest of the great Cognac houses, was founded by Jean Martell in 1715 at the height of French Art de Vivre, when gastronomy, taste and craftsmanship were celebrated and enjoyed with style. These became the three pillars of the House of Martell and remain intrinsic to the Martell vision today. Since 1715, Martell has produced, exported and marketed cognacs which are recognized worldwide for their outstanding quality and finesse, obtained through double distillation of exclusively clear wines and aging in fine-grainedoak barrels. |
Tasting note | Tasting notesColor: Intense amber with shimmering mahogany highlights. Nose: Citrus notes like bergamot and orange peel, the full fruit harmony of dark berries and blackcurrants, the gingerbread notes of clove and cinnamon embraced by vanilla, and the scent of oriental forests with its woody notes of myrrh, undergrowth and rancio. Taste: A silky-smooth and subtle attack is followed by richer, more substantial flavours. Harmonious notes of blackcurrant and woodland undergrowth encounter tones of gingerbread and orange peel. Lond-aged Grande Champagne eaux-de-vie bring strenght and structure, prolonged into an exquisite, lingering finish. |
