Product description
As the oldest house in the Cognac region, dating back to 1715, it is only fitting that Martell has created such a Cognac legend in the form of the Martell Cordon Bleu. Cordon Bleu was enjoyed during the Treaty of Versailles in 1919, during the inauguration of Queen Mary in 1936, and starred in movies such as Francis Ford Coppola’s Apocalypse Now! The Cordon Bleu has been reinvented continuously by Martell throughout history, the most recent being the stunning royal blue Art of Generosity edition designed by Mathilde de L’Ecotais. The history of Martell & Co dates back to 1715 when Jean Martell founded the company with the wish to produce only the highest quality in Cognac. With the legendary bottles Martell Cordon Bleu, the cuvée Martell Extra L’Or de Jean Martell and the recent Création Grand Extra from 2007, the company strongly implanted itself in the luxury goods market and are famous for using large amounts of Eaux-de-vie from the Borderies terroir. It belongs to Pernod Ricard and has sales of around 15 million litres every year. A layered nose, which is light and vibrant but can be a bit sharp. Initial notes of citrus peel, along with light vanilla and a bouquet of fresh fruits. Honey on the palette, as well as citrus fruits, prunes, and oak. A faint spiciness adds depth. A moderately spicy and hot finish also offers dark red fruits and raisins.

These became the three pillars of the House of Martell and remain intrinsic to the Martell vision today. Since 1715, Martell has produced, exported and marketed cognacs which are recognized worldwide for their outstanding quality and finesse, obtained through double distillation of exclusively clear wines and aging in fine-grained oak barrels. |
